Heriberto Hernandez hit a tiebreaking two-run single in the eighth to lift the visiting Miami Marlins to an 8-4 comeback victory over the Cincinnati Reds on Saturday.

Jakob Marsee was 4-for-4 with a solo home run, while Joe Mack was 3-for-5 with a solo shot as Miami snapped a four-game road skid and evened the three-game set.

Miami’s Tyler Zuber (2-1) allowed two hits and struck out one in a scoreless inning of relief.

For the Reds, Matt McLain was 3-for-4 with a double and a homer, Ke’Bryan Hayes also homered and Sal Stewart had two hits, including a two-run single.

Trailing 4-3 entering the eighth, Miami sent nine batters to the plate and took a 7-4 lead on three hits, two hit-by-pitches and a walk. Owen Caissie was hit by a pitch and motored to third on Mack’s single. Graham Pauley evened the score at 4 with a sacrifice fly that plated Caissie. Esteury Ruiz was then hit in the shoulder as Tejay Antone (2-1) gave way to Sam Moll.

Moll walked pinch hitter Agustin Ramirez to load the bases. After shortstop Elly De La Cruz fielded Edwards’ chopper and cut down Mack at the plate, Hernandez lined a two-run single into right for a 6-4 lead. Griffin Conine followed with a single to right that scored Edwards.

Marsee’s solo shot in the third got the Marlins on the board first.

In the bottom of the inning, Stewart’s opposite-field single knocked in Hayes and McLain to give Cincinnati a 2-1 lead.

With one out in the fourth, Mack’s homer tied the game at 2.

Miami went up 3-2 in the fifth when Hernandez roped an RBI single past a drawn-in infield.

Cincinnati answered with back-to-back homers from Hayes and McLain in its half of the frame for a 4-3 advantage.

Pauley added an insurance run with an RBI double in the ninth.

Miami starter Ryan Gusto allowed four runs (two earned) on six hits with no walks and six strikeouts in 4 2/3 innings. Reds starter Brady Singer scattered eight hits, allowing three runs with two walks and four strikeouts over six innings.
