The New York Mets will have veteran second baseman/outfielder Jeff McNeil on the roster for the National League Championship Series.
McNeil, who last played Sept. 6 due to a wrist fracture, is on the Mets’ NLCS roster as they prepare to open the series against the host Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday.
McNeil was hit by a pitch on his right wrist during a game against the Cincinnati Reds and later went on the injured list.
Since then, the Mets completed a surprise run to the playoffs, defeated the Milwaukee Brewers in the wild-card round and eliminated the rival Philadelphia Phillies in the NL Division Series.
McNeil, 32, batted .238 in 129 regular-season games, with 12 home runs, 26 doubles and 44 RBIs. He recently played two games in the Arizona Fall League to complete his rehab stint.
New York also kept rookie Luisangel Acuna as a backup infielder. They left off right-handed reliever Adam Ottavino, opting to carry 14 position players and 12 pitchers.
