The Washington Nationals traded left-handed pitcher Jose A. Ferrer to the Seattle Mariners in exchange for catcher Harry Ford and right-hander Isaac Lyon, the teams announced on Saturday.
Over three seasons with the Nationals, Ferrer has posted a 4.36 ERA and 1.265 WHIP in 142 games, all relief appearances, with 12 saves and an 8-4 record.
The 25-year-old has an estimated $820,000 salary for the 2026 season, per Spotrac. He will not reach arbitration until 2027.
Ferrer’s advanced metrics are noteworthy. Last season, he ranked in the 99th percentile in groundball percentage and in the 95th percentile in walk percentage.
Ford is ranked as the No. 42 overall prospect by MLB Pipeline. He is the No. 3 overall rated catcher prospect.
The Mariners selected him with the 12th overall pick in the 2021 MLB Draft. Last season, the 22-year-old recorded 16 home runs, 74 RBIs, and a .283 batting average for Triple-A Tacoma. He appeared in eight MLB games with one hit in six at-bats.
Lyon was a 10th round pick (302nd overall) in the 2025 MLB Draft. He had a 7.30 ERA in four appearances for Single-A Modesto.
