Daylen Lile had a three-run homer among his three hits and five RBIs, Cade Cavalli turned in six solid innings and the host Washington Nationals snapped a four-game losing streak with a 10-3 win over the Colorado Rockies on Monday.
Jorbit Vivas had three hits and drove in two runs for the Nationals, who had lost eight of nine.
Cavalli (12-5) gave up two runs on five hits. He struck out seven and walked one. Cavalli has given up three earned runs or fewer in 14 consecutive starts.
Willi Castro and Ezequiel Tovar homered for the Rockies, who have lost seven straight.
Shortstop Tovar left in the sixth inning with a left wrist strain after a diving attempt in the fifth.
After being held hitless over the first four innings, Washington exploded in the fifth and kept adding on.
Jacob Young led off the fifth with a soft liner that eluded Tovar. After Vivas singled, Nasim Nunez bunted and third baseman Castro threw wildly to first. Both runners scored and Nunez went around to third. CJ Abrams doubled home Nunez to make it 3-2.
Abrams stole third and scored when Abimelec Ortiz grounded out. Lile doubled, stole third and scored on catcher Brett Sullivan’s throwing error, increasing the lead to 5-2.
In the sixth, Vivas singled and Nunez walked. After Abrams grounded into a fielder’s choice, Juan Mejia replaced Rockies starter Ryan Feltner. Ortiz walked to load the bases and Crews walked to force in a run. Lile lined a single to right, scoring two for an 8-2 Nationals lead.
Rockies reliever Blake Adams made his major league debut. He pitched one-plus innings and allowed a two-run single to Vivas in the seventh that made it 10-2.
Connor Norby singled home a run in the eighth to pull the Rockies within 10-3.
Lile pushed the lead to 13-3 with a three-run shot off Adams in the eighth.
Castro homered on the first pitch of the fourth and Tovar went deep leading off the fifth to put the Rockies up 2-0.
Feltner (5-8) gave up seven runs (five earned) on six hits over 5 2/3 innings. He struck out six and walked four.
