In a season littered with injuries, the Baltimore Orioles placed two more players on the injured list on Friday.

Infielder Jordan Westburg will make a return trip, this time to the 10-day list, with a right ankle sprain. Pitcher Brandon Young, who came within four outs of a perfect game on August 15, goes to the 15-day IL with a left hamstring strain.

Westburg’s move is retroactive to August 19.

In corresponding moves, the Orioles selected the contracts of infielder Vimael Machin and pitcher Matt Bowman from Triple-A Norfolk.

Westburg suffered the injury on August 18 in Boston, while rounding second base on a Ryan Mountcastle single in the first inning. He immediately left the game, replaced by Luis Vasquez.

The third-year pro was hitting .276 with a team-high 15 home runs (tied with two active Orioles) and 34 RBI. Over the last 19 games, Westburg was hitting .347 with four home runs and 11 RBI.

To start the season, Westburg played in 23 games before heading to the injured list with a left hamstring strain in late April. He returned on June 10.

Young (1-7, 6.24 ERA) pitched 7 2/3 inning of perfect baseball one week ago in Houston, before allowing an infield single to former teammate Ramon Urias. He earned his first major league victory in the Orioles’ 7-0 triumph.

But he could not put on a repeat performance on Thursday, as the Astros touched him for seven earned runs in 5 1/3 innings and he took the loss in a 7-2 setback.

He had settled down in the fourth and fifth innings, but suffered the hamstring injury while covering first base on a Jacob Melton ground ball to lead off the sixth inning and was removed from the game.

Bowman, a 10-year veteran who has been with the Orioles since 2024, has appeared in 19 games with Baltimore in 2025. He is 0-1 with a 5.79 ERA in 23 1/3 innings. For his career, Bowman has appeared in 230 games with seven franchises and owns an 8-14 mark with a 4.32 ERA.

Machin, 31, has not appeared in the majors since 2022 as a member of the Athletics. In parts of three seasons, he hit .208 in 112 games played. He was leading Norfolk this season with 15 home runs and 70 RBIs in 70 games played.

If Machin gets into a game, he would be the 63rd player to compete for Baltimore in 2025, a new team record.
