Trea Turner slugged a home run among his three hits and drove in two runs as the visiting Philadelphia Phillies opened a four-game series against the Miami Marlins with a 5-2 victory on Monday.

Max Kepler also homered for Philadelphia, which has won five straight and six of its last seven. Alec Bohm had two hits, including a two-run single in the ninth inning.

Mick Abel (2-0) gave up one run on three hits with three strikeouts and a walk in five innings. Taijuan Walker and Jordan Romano each pitched a scoreless inning before Matt Strahm allowed a run in the eighth.

Orion Kerkering retired the Marlins in order in the ninth for his first career save.

Philadelphia snapped Miami’s three-game winning streak and moved 14 games over .500.

The Phillies took a 1-0 lead two pitches into the game on Turner’s 406-foot blast against Sandy Alcantara (3-8). The homer was Turner’s eighth this season.

Miami pulled even in the second inning. After Kyle Stowers tripled with one out, Eric Wagaman struck out and Liam Hicks walked before Connor Norby singled in a run.

Philadelphia regained the lead on Kepler’s ninth homer of the season, a one-out shot in the fourth inning.

Alcantara allowed two runs on five hits over five innings. He walked one and struck out five while throwing 100 pitches.

The Phillies tacked on another run in the seventh inning against Valente Bellozo when Brandon Marsh hit a one-out triple and scored on Turner’s single.

Miami cut the lead to 3-2 in the eighth after putting two runners on with no outs. Both runners advanced on Otto Lopez’s groundout before a run scored on Agustin Ramirez’s sacrifice fly.

With the bases loaded and two outs in the ninth, the Phillies added a pair of insurance runs on Bohm’s single against Cade Gibson.

Marlins centerfielder Dane Myers exited the game in the second inning after being hit by a pitch on his left elbow.
