The Philadelphia Phillies placed first baseman Bryce Harper on the 10-day injured list Saturday with inflammation in his right wrist.
The move is retroactive to Friday for the two-time National League Most Valuable Player, who was 0-for-8 with five strikeouts in losses to the Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday and Thursday.
Harper, 32, returned to the lineup Tuesday after missing five games following being struck by a pitch on the right elbow on May 27.
The eight-time All-Star is batting .258 with nine home runs and 34 RBIs in 57 games this season. His .814 OPS is his lowest since finishing the 2016 campaign at the same number.
The Phillies, losers of seven of eight entering Saturday’s matinee at Pittsburgh, called up infielder/outfielder Otto Kemp from Triple-A Lehigh Valley in a corresponding move.
Kemp, 25, is in line to make his major league debut. He is batting .317 with a 1.018 OPS, 14 homers, 55 RBIs and 11 stolen bases in 57 games this season at Lehigh Valley.
Philadelphia also recalled right-hander Daniel Robert from Triple-A after optioning right-hander Alan Rangel there following Friday’s 5-4 loss in Pittsburgh.
