The Philadelphia Phillies placed perennial All-Star first baseman Bryce Harper on the paternity list Monday.
In a corresponding move, the club recalled infielder Kody Clemens from Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
Harper and his wife, Kayla, announced last month that they were expecting their third child.
Harper, 31, is batting .241 with four home runs and 14 RBIs this season. The two-time MVP is in the midst of a six-game hitting streak.
Clemens, 27, is hitting .270 with four HRs and 11 RBIs in 16 games at Triple-A this season.
The Phillies open a four-game series at Cincinnati on Monday night. Per MLB rules, Harper could return to the team for the series finale on Thursday afternoon.
