Pittsburgh Pirates starter Paul Skenes has no-hit the host Milwaukee Brewers through seven innings on Thursday afternoon in the rubber match of a three-game series.
Skenes, a rookie making his 11th big-league start, has walked one while striking out 11. He also hit a batter and has thrown 65 of his 99 pitches for strikes.
Pittsburgh led 1-0 heading into the top of the eighth after Yasmani Grandal ripped an RBI double in the seventh.
Should Skenes keep Milwaukee out of the hit column, he would record the seventh no-hitter in Pirates franchise history. Pittsburgh last no-hit a team on July 12, 1997, when Francisco Cordova pitched nine innings and Ricardo Rincon went one in a 10-inning, 3-0 victory over the Houston Astros.
