The Texas Rangers placed outfielder Wyatt Langford on the 10-day injured list Monday with a right hamstring strain and recalled infielder Jonathan Ornelas from Triple-A Round Rock.
Langford, 22, was batting .224 with one home run and 11 RBIs in 31 games of his rookie season. According to manager Bruce Bochy, Langford could miss up to four weeks. Langford was selected by Texas with the fourth overall pick of the 2023 MLB Draft out of the University of Florida.
Ornelas, 23, was batting .278 with two home runs and 11 RBIs in 24 games at Round Rock. Above average on defense, Ornelas made his major league debut last season and had one hit in seven at-bats over eight games.
