Infielder Sebastian Walcott, the top prospect in the Texas Rangers’ organization, will undergo elbow surgery to repair a torn ulnar collateral ligament.

Chris Young, Texas’ president of baseball operations, told reporters on Thursday that Walcott, 19, could miss the 2026 season.

While playing in the Arizona Fall League, Walcott reported elbow inflammation and was sidelined. He went through rehab but has continued to experience soreness, Young said, and surgery was recommended.

It is unknown whether he will need Tommy John surgery or an internal brace procedure.

The Rangers signed Walcott in January 2023. A native of the Bahamas, Walcott is ranked by MLB Pipeline as the No. 7 overall prospect in baseball.

At Double-A Frisco in 2025, he his .255 with 13 home runs, 59 RBIs and 32 stolen bases.

Before the injury, MLB Pipeline projected a 2027 arrival in the majors for Walcott.
