Boston Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers will have an MRI on his ailing left knee, manager Alex Cora confirmed Thursday.
The two-time All-Star left Tuesday’s win against Cleveland with discomfort and was not in Thursday’s lineup against the Guardians.
Devers went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts in Tuesday’s 2-0 victory and is batting just .188 with two homers and five RBIs through 13 games this season.
Devers, 27, is a career .279 hitter with 174 home runs and 560 RBIs in 855 games since making his debut with the Red Sox in 2017.
Pablo Reyes started at third base and batted seventh in Thursday’s matinee at Fenway Park.
Boston begins a six-game road trip at Pittsburgh on Friday.
