The Cincinnati Reds activated catcher Luke Maile from the 10-day injured list on Friday.
Maile, 33, has not played for Cincinnati since July 4 due to a herniated disc in his back.
He batted .176 with two homers and eight RBIs in 39 games before the injury.
Maile is a career .209 hitter with 21 homers and 113 RBIs in 419 games with five franchises.
Cincinnati optioned fellow backstop Eric Yang to Triple-A Louisville in a corresponding transaction.
