The New York Mets acquired longtime Baltimore Orioles center fielder Cedric Mullins in exchange for three prospects on Thursday.
The Mets will send right-handed pitchers Raimon Gomez, Chandler Marsh and Anthony Nunez to Baltimore in the deal.
Mullins, 30, has spent his entire eight-year major league career with the Orioles, who are in last place in the American League East and selling at the trade deadline.
An All-Star selection and Silver Slugger winner in 2021, Mullins is career .250 batter with 101 home runs, 327 RBIs and 139 stolen bases across 784 games in Baltimore. That includes a .229 average, 15 homers, 49 RBIs and 14 steals through 91 games this season.
Gomez, 23, has gone 5-5 with a 4.63 ERA in 27 games (three starts) between Class-A and High-A ball this season. Marsh, 22, has made 33 relief appearances between Class-A and High-A and amassed a 4-1 record and 2.57 ERA.
Nunez, 24, is 2-1 with a 1.58 ERA in 32 relief appearances this season at High-A and Double-A. Nunez also has played every infield position during his time in the minor leagues but has only been a pitcher this season.
