The Minnesota Twins recalled Mick Abel from Triple-A St. Paul and designated fellow right-hander Jose Urena for assignment.
Abel, 24, made six starts with the Philadelphia Phillies earlier this season, going 4-2 with a 5.04 ERA. He was acquired July 30 in the trade that sent right-hander Jhoan Duran to the Phillies.
Abel is set to make his Twins debut in a start against the Chicago White Sox on Saturday.
Urena, 33, made four appearances (three starts) with the Twins this season, his fourth club of 2025. In 13 appearances (five starts) for the New York Mets, Toronto Blue Jays, Los Angeles Dodgers and Twins this season, he is 0-1 with a 5.00 ERA.
In parts of 11 seasons, Urena is 44-78 with a 4.77 ERA in 245 appearances (157 starts) for 10 different clubs, including his first six seasons with the Miami Marlins.
