Adael Amador and Brett Sullivan, the bottom two hitters in the Colorado batting order, smacked three-run home runs and the visiting Rockies completed a season-series win over the San Francisco Giants with a 13-7 victory Sunday afternoon.

The Rockies took advantage of 10 walks to take two of three in the final meetings of the year over the Giants, completing the season series with a 7-6 edge. Colorado hadn’t won a season series over its National League rival since 2020.

Amador’s homer, his first of the season and second of his career, came as part of a four-run second inning that gave the Rockies a 4-1 lead.

The Giants countered with four runs of their own in the bottom of the second, including a three-run homer from Rafael Devers, his 25th, to go on top 5-4. They then added single tallies in the third and fifth to take a 7-6 lead into the sixth.

But the Rockies did the rest of the game’s scoring, beginning with a four-run sixth that included four walks, a hit batsman, a wild pitch and a two-run single by Mickey Moniak.

Sullivan’s homer, his seventh of the season, came in the seventh and doubled what had been a three-run lead.

Neither starting pitcher was effective, but both avoided a loss.

The Rockies’ Gabriel Hughes was pulled after four innings, having allowed seven runs and eight hits. He walked one and struck out two.

He was followed to the mound by four relievers who combined for five innings of shutout ball, allowing just three hits. Nick Frasso (1-1), who pitched a scoreless fifth, was credited with the win.

The Giants’ Blade Tidwell went 4 1/3 innings, allowing six runs on three hits and five walks. He struck out one.

Sam Hentges (1-5), who allowed two of Colorado’s four runs in its go-ahead, sixth-inning, took the loss.

Amador and Jordan Beck scored three runs apiece, Sullivan and Jake McCarthy scored twice each, and Moniak joined Amador and Sullivan with three RBIs apiece for the Rockies, who totaled just nine hits.

Devers added a double to his homer and scored twice for the Giants, who lost 2-1 series to the Detroit Tigers, Houston Astros and Rockies during a nine-game homestand. Drew Cavanaugh added a pair of singles for San Francisco, which out-hit the visitors 11-9.
