Kansas City Royals prospect Diego Hernandez, who reported to spring training with a chance to make the club, will miss three to four months with a dislocated right shoulder, MLB.com reported Sunday.
The injury occurred Saturday in a spring training game against the Texas Rangers in Surprise, Ariz., when the left-handed throwing Hernandez made a diving catch in the outfield.
Hernandez, 22, played in a combined 115 games last season at Single-A Quad Cities and Double-A Northwest Arkansas, batting .284 with 129 hits, nine home runs, 40 RBIs and 40 stolen bases.
The Royals added him to the 40-man roster in November.
