Shea Langeliers had five hits, including three solo home runs, and the visiting Athletics beat the Washington Nationals 16-7 on Tuesday night.
JJ Bleday had four hits, including a home run, and drove in six runs as the A’s pounded out 24 hits. Darell Hernaiz had two hits, including a homer, and Brent Rooker had four hits and three RBIs.
It was the second career three-homer game for Langeliers, who added a double and a single.
Luis Severino (6-11) earned the win, allowing three runs on five hits over six innings.
Luis Garcia Jr. had three hits and Nathaniel Lowe walked four times for Washington, which has lost six straight and given up 54 runs in its past four games.
MacKenzie Gore (4-12) gave up eight runs on 12 hits in three-plus innings.
The A’s jumped on Gore in the first. Langeliers led off with a homer and Nick Kurtz followed with a single and went to third on Rooker’s double. Bleday singled home both runners and Hernaiz homered to make it 5-0.
In the third, Colby Thomas walked, went to third on a Hernaiz single and scored on a single by Tyler Soderstrom.
Kurtz led off the fourth with a double and scored on Rooker’s single to make it 7-0 and end Gore’s night. Bleday greeted reliever Clayton Beeter with a two-run homer and the lead was 9-0.
Washington scored in the fourth when Garcia singled and later scored on a single by Brady House.
Langeliers led off the fifth with his second home run and the score was 10-1.
In the bottom of the sixth, CJ Abrams singled, James Wood was hit by a pitch and Garcia singled to load the bases. Lowe walked to force in a run and House added a sacrifice fly to make it 10-3.
Langeliers struck again in the sixth, homering to center to increase the lead to 11-3, and Hernaiz later hit a sacrifice fly to score Kurtz, who had singled.
Kurtz had three hits, walked twice and scored four runs.
Rooker and Bleday each hit two-run doubles in the eighth to make it 16-3.
Robert Hassell III doubled home a run and Garcia singled home two for Washington in the ninth.
