The Detroit Tigers reinstated third baseman Gio Urshela from the 10-day injured list on Tuesday.
Sidelined since April 19 with a right hamstring strain, Urshela was back in the lineup and batting sixth for Tuesday night’s game against the visiting Miami Marlins.
Urshela, 32, batted .298 with two doubles and six RBIs in 18 games before the injury. He is a career .278 hitter with 64 homers and 286 RBIs in 682 games over nine seasons with six teams.
Detroit optioned outfielder Akil Baddoo to Triple-A Toledo to make room for Urshela on the 26-man roster.
