Keider Montero allowed two hits in six shutout innings and Eduardo Valencia drove in four runs with a pair of doubles as the Detroit Tigers beat the Athletics 11-0 on Sunday in West Sacramento, Calif.

Detroit swept the series and has scored at least eight runs in five straight games for the first time since 1996.

The Tigers swept the season series 6-0, their first time winning the season series against the A’s since 2016.

Montero (8-6) walked two and struck out two in 86 pitches.

A’s starter Gage Jump (4-7) gave up six runs on four hits in 3 2/3 innings. The southpaw walked six and struck out five in 88 pitches.

The A’s, who have lost five straight and 10 of their last 12, issued nine walks to the Tigers.

The Tigers jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first. Gleyber Torres led off with a walk and went to second on a Dillon Dingler single. Jump struck out Kevin McGonigle and Valencia, but Spencer Torkelson doubled to center field to score Torres and Dingler for two of his three RBIs.

The Tigers put the game away with a four-run fourth.

Max Clark and Ben Malgeri walked back-to-back with one out. Zach McKinstry singled to load the bases and Torres singled up the middle to score Clark and Malgeri and make it 4-0. Dingler struck out, but McGonigle walked to reload the bases and chase Jump.

Valencia greeted reliever Elvis Alvarado with a double to left to bring in McKinstry and Torres for a 6-0 lead.

Meanwhile, Montero held the A’s to five baserunners and didn’t allow anyone past second in the first six innings.

The A’s finally mounted a threat in the seventh when Alika Williams and Jeff McNeil had back-to-back, two-out singles off Tyler Holton.

Drew Anderson, however, ended the threat by getting Henry Bolte to ground out to shortstop.

The Tigers scored four more in the eighth on Valencia’s second two-run double, a run-scoring single by Torkelson and a fielder’s choice by Hao-Yu Lee.
