Looking to follow one of their best offensive performances of the season, the Chicago White Sox will aim to complete a three-game sweep of the visiting Texas Rangers on Sunday afternoon.

Chicago compiled a season-high 14 hits in a 10-5 victory over Texas on Saturday and has an opportunity to record its first series sweep since it took three games in a row against the Los Angeles Angels last September.

On Saturday, the White Sox saw contributions from Andrew Benintendi — two hits and two RBIs in his second appearance since missing nearly three weeks with a calf injury — and from Mike Tauchman, who launched a solo homer in his second game since April 9 after being sidelined with a right hamstring injury.

Eight of Chicago’s hits went for extra bases, and the White Sox also walked eight times in winning for the third time in the past four games.

“Quality at-bats, controlling the zone, really happy to add some of those veteran guys the last couple of days that have a long history of doing that,” White Sox manager Will Venable said. “That’s what it’s going to take from top to bottom, stringing together quality at-bats.”

Davis Martin (2-5, 3.49 ERA) will start on Sunday for the White Sox following his longest outing of his season. Martin went 7 1/3 innings against the Seattle Mariners on Monday, allowing two earned runs on four hits in Chicago’s 5-1 loss. The 28-year-old right-hander has faced Texas once in his career, throwing five innings of two-run ball in a no-decision of an 8-3 win in June 2022.

For a franchise that hasn’t returned to its World Series form of two years ago, the Rangers might have hit rock bottom on Saturday. Texas extended its season-long losing streak to six games, seeing its 3-0 lead evaporate against the American League-worst White Sox.

Four Texas relievers combined to allow eight runs (seven earned) across three innings, while the Rangers’ offense was outhit 14-7. Adding to the woes, Texas designated hitter Joc Pederson suffered a broken bone when he was hit by a pitch.

“He’s got a fracture in the right hand,” Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said. “In the fifth metacarpal knuckle, so that’s a bad break there for us. We’re having tough luck keeping guys on the field, and he’s going to be out for a while.”

Texas, which has dropped to fourth place in the AL West, has gone from five games over .500 in April 22 (14-9) to three games under (25-28). During the six-game losing streak, the Rangers have been outscored 28-14.

Hoping to break the streak on Sunday, Patrick Corbin (3-3, 3.59 ERA) is scheduled to make his ninth start of the season. Corbin has enjoyed a bounce-back season in his first year with the Rangers after posting a 5.62 ERA with the Washington Nationals in 2024.

Last time out, the 35-year-old allowed three runs on five hits in a five-inning stint in a 5-2 loss to the New York Yankees on Tuesday. The veteran left-hander has a 1-2 record and a 6.48 ERA in three career starts against the White Sox.
