The Chicago White Sox reinstated outfielder Eloy Jimenez from the 10-day injured list Monday, while also purchasing the contract of right-hander Nick Nastrini.
In corresponding moves, right-hander Justin Anderson and infielder Zach Remillard were optioned to Triple-A Charlotte. To make room on the 40-man roster for Nastrini, catcher Max Stassi was transferred to the 60-day IL.
Jimenez, 27, played in just three games before he went down with a left adductor strain. A .274 career hitter in 439 games with the White Sox, Jimenez was off to a slow start, hitting .182 (2-for-11) with just two singles.
Nastrini, 24, is set to make his major league debut after he was acquired from the Los Angeles Dodgers just before last season’s trade deadline. Right-handers Lance Lynn and Joe Kelly were sent to the Dodgers in that deal.
In two starts at Charlotte this season, Nastrini was 0-1 with a 7.71 ERA. He has a 3.99 ERA in 252 1/3 innings over four minor league seasons.
Anderson, 31, pitched just 2 1/3 innings after he was added to the White Sox’s roster Friday. Remillard, 30, was 1-for-5 in two games this season.
Stassi, 33, has been on the IL since spring training with left hip inflammation.
