New York Yankees first baseman Anthony Rizzo is undergoing further testing on Monday after a collision during Sunday night’s game against the Boston Red Sox.
Rizzo immediately left the game with a right lower arm injury after colliding with Red Sox pitcher Brennan Bernardino at first base and landing awkwardly on his right hand in the seventh inning.
A fluoroscopy after the game came back negative, but Rizzo is undergoing further testing Monday in New York.
“He’s in some pain in that lower arm in a number of places,” Yankees manager Aaron Boone said. “He’ll get a lot of tests tomorrow and see what we’re dealing with.”
Rizzo was 0-for-3 before exiting. He’s batting .223 with eight home runs and 28 RBIs in 70 games this season. The three-time All-Star is hitting .262 with 303 homers for his career.
