The New York Yankees placed second baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr. on the 10-day injured list on Friday.
He strained his right oblique on a swing against the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday, and the move is retroactive to Wednesday.
Chisholm, 27, is batting .181 with seven home runs, 17 RBIs and six stolen bases in 30 games this season.
The former All-Star is a lifetime .245 hitter with 84 homers, 245 RBIs and 105 steals in 479 games with the Miami Marlins (2020-24) and Yankees (2024-25).
New York recalled infielder Jorbit Vivas from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in a corresponding transaction ahead of Friday night’s game against the visiting Tampa Bay Rays.
Vivas, 24, has yet to make his major league debut. He is slashing .319/.426/.436 in Triple-A with two homers, 15 RBIs and six steals in 26 games.
