The New York Yankees placed versatile infielder/outfielder Amed Rosario on the 10-day injured list Sunday with a left SC joint sprain.
An SC sprain impacts the joint where the collarbone meets the breastbone.
The move is retroactive to Saturday for Rosario, who collided with the left-field wall during Friday’s 5-3 loss to the visiting Houston Astros.
Rosario, 29, is 3-for-7 with an RBI in four games since being acquired from the Washington Nationals on July 26 for right-handed pitcher Clayton Beeter and outfielder Browm Martinez.
He posted a .270/.310/.426 slash line with five home runs and 18 RBIs in 46 games for Washington.
Perhaps his best asset is his versatility, as Rosario has played second base, third base, shortstop and right field this season. He even pitched an inning.
Rosario has played in 993 games in his nine-year career for seven MLB teams.
Also on Sunday, catcher J.C. Escarra was recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Escarra, 30, batted .205 with two homers and 10 RBIs in 39 games this season with the Yankees.
