Austin FC transferred midfielder Sebastian Driussi, the club’s all-time leading goal-scorer, to Argentine side Club Atletico River Plate.
The transaction, which Austin announced Friday, will net the largest transfer fee in club history, reportedly worth almost $10 million.
Driussi scored 51 goals in 115 matches across all competitions for Austin after arriving from Russian side Zenit St. Petersburg in July 2021.
His best season with Austin came in 2022, when he finished second in the MVP race after tallying 22 goals to help the club reach the Western Conference Final.
The 28-year-old is an Argentina native and previously played for River Plate during his youth career (2007-2013) and part of his senior career (2013-17).
