Austin FC forward Diego Rubio signed a one-year contract extension with the club on Thursday.
Financial terms were not disclosed by Austin FC in the deal, which carries a club option for the 2026 season.
“Playing in front of our fans at Q2 Stadium this season was an amazing experience, and I’m eager to do everything I can to help the team reach its goals in 2025,” Rubio said.
Rubio, 31, collected four goals and one assist in 33 appearances (23 starts) this season.
“Diego is a proven MLS goal scorer who brings good experience to our team,” Austin FC sporting director Rodolfo Borrell said. “We are pleased to have him part of our group of forwards again for next season.”
Rubio has totaled 57 goals and 35 assists in 198 career appearances (143) starts) with Sporting Kansas City (2016-18), Colorado Rapids (2019-23) and Austin FC.
