Emmanuel Latte Lath scored twice in his first match with Atlanta United and teammate Edwin Mosquera’s goal in the 85th minute broke a tie in a 3-2 victory over visiting CF Montreal in the season opener for both teams Saturday night.

It marked a successful debut for new Atlanta coach Ronny Deila.

Montreal’s Nathan Saliba and Prince Osei Owusu scored the tying goals in the second half.

Goalkeeper Brad Guzan made five saves.

Montreal’s Jonathan Sirois was credited with five saves.

Mosquera’s winning goal came in transition, with Miguel Almiron delivering the key pass on the fast break.

Latte Lith, a 26-year-old forward making his MLS debut, scored on Atlanta’s ninth shot attempt of the match, coming in the 41st minute. Latte Lith’s header came off a pass from Saba Lobjanidze, who delivered a corner kick.

Montreal managed only one shot on goal in the first half.

Owusu picked up the assist on Saliba’s goal two minutes into the second half.

Atlanta went back ahead on Latte Lith’s second goal of the match in the 63rd minute, but Owusu knotted the score in the 71st minute.

Guzan became the first player in Atlanta franchise history to appear in 200 regular-season matches.

For Montreal, it was the first match that counted since last fall’s setback to Atlanta in penalties in an MLS Cup’s preliminary round. Atlanta won both regular-season meetings in 2024.
