FC Dallas acquired goalkeeper Daniel from the San Jose Earthquakes in exchange for up to $1 million in General Allocation Money (GAM), both clubs announced on Thursday.
Daniel, 32, came over to San Jose from SC Internacional in the Brazilian first division in 2023 and started 77 of 78 games in the nets for the Earthquakes over four seasons. He recorded 14 shutouts and made 276 saves while allowing 117 goals for a save percentage of approximately 70.2%.
Daniel was second in MLS with 3.88 saves per 90 minutes in his debut season of 2023. He underwent hamstring surgery the following year and only played in a dozen games.
The native of Barra do Garcas, Brazil, made 83 career appearances with Internacional from 2017-22.
The Earthquakes will receive a guaranteed $700,000 in GAM over the next two years ($300,000 in 2026 and $400,000 in 2027) as well as an additional $300,000 GAM, providing certain incentives are reached.
Michael Collodi, a 25-year-old native of Plano, Texas, has been FC Dallas’ starter in 2026, posting three clean sheets in 13 appearances this season.
San Jose announced the signing of Scottish international goalkeeper Angus Gunn on Wednesday. Gunn started all three matches for Scotland at the 2026 World Cup.
