FC Dallas announced the signing of free agent defender Lalas Abubakar to a two-year contract on Thursday.
The deal includes a club option for 2027 for the 29-year-old Ghana international, who spent the past six seasons with the Colorado Rapids.
“We’re very happy to sign Lalas to our roster,” FC Dallas sporting director Andre Zanotta said. “Strengthening our defensive group this offseason was a priority. Lalas provides us a great player, competitor, and flexibility along our backline. We look forward to him joining our group once preseason begins.”
Abubakar recorded one assist in 18 matches (15 starts) with the Rapids in 2024. He has 11 goals and two assists in 170 MLS matches (156 starts) with the Columbus Crew (2017-19) and Colorado (2019-24).
