Los Angeles Galaxy defender Martin Caceres is expected to miss 3-5 months for an avulsion fracture in his left knee that will require surgery.
Caceres, 36, was injured in Wednesday’s 2-2 tie with Sporting Kansas City. He scored a goal in the 24th minute, his second of the season, to tie the score 1-1.
Caceres, who will undergo surgery Wednesday, started all 18 games he played for the Galaxy this season across all competitions. The Uruguay native played six games for the Galaxy last season and has played for 11 clubs, mostly across Europe, including seven seasons at Juventus in Italy.
