Idan Toklomati scored twice and had an assist in Charlotte FC’s late comeback for a 3-2 victory against visiting FC Dallas in soggy conditions Saturday night.
Harry Toffolo also scored during the rally for Charlotte (13-8-7, 46 points), which has earned points in nine of its last 10 matches and yet was in danger of suffering its second consecutive shutout loss until the late production.
Toklomati’s second goal came in the second minute of stoppage time as he sprinted in from the left side and had an easy tap-in off Pep Biel’s pass to break a tie. Toklomati has 11 goals this season.
Dallas had the only score for the first 69 minutes until Charlotte converted twice. Logan Farrington in the first half and Petar Musa in the second half scored for Dallas (13-7-8, 47 points), which had a six-game points streak halted.
Charlotte’s first goal came from Toklomati in the 70th minute, with Allan Saint-Maximin providing his sixth assist in 10 matches with the team.
Less than four minutes later, Toklomati earned an assist on Toffolo’s tying header. It marked Toffolo’s first goal with the team.
Goalkeepers Kristijan Kahlina of Charlotte and Daniel of Dallas were each credited with four saves.
Farrington’s goal in the 22nd minute opened the scoring when he cut through the box and converted off Herman Johansson’s pass.
Musa made it 2-0 in the 64th minute off a delivery from Santiago Moreno.
