German Berterame scored his first goal for Inter Miami, but Adri Mehmeti’s goal in the 77th minute helped the New York Red Bulls finish with a 2-2 draw with the Herons on Saturday night at Miami.

Inter Miami (3-1-3, 12 points) extended its unbeaten streak across all competitions to eight consecutive matches. But the Herons experienced their fifth draw during that span. Mateo Silvetti scored Miami’s other goal.

The Red Bulls (3-2-2, 11 points) salvaged a point but were unable to string together back-to-back wins after last week’s victory over Cincinnati.

Julian Hall, who entered the game with a team-high five goals, assisted on both goals for New York. On the second, Hall made a brilliant move after collecting the ball off his team’s free kick. Hall turned and fired a perfect cross to Mehmeti in front of the goal, allowing him to fire it past Inter Miami goalkeeper Dayne St. Clair (zero saves).

The Red Bulls appeared to have evened the game 15 minutes earlier, but Cade Cowell was ruled offside on a similar rush into Miami’s end.

Red Bulls goalkeeper Ethan Horvath (five saves) made two remarkable saves in the 90th minute on Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez to preserve the tie. Berterame appeared to kick home a goal off the third rebound off Horvath but was ruled offside.

Jorge Ruvalcaba had the Red Bulls’ other goal to open the scoring in the 15th minute of the match after Hall drew away two Miami defenders and delivered him a perfect cross.

Berterame scored an elusive first goal with the club that signed him for $15 million this offseason. After Messi drove near the box, a deflected ball ended up in his reach and he wasted no time burying it in the back of the net in the 55th minute.

Inter Miami tied the match at 1 just before halftime when Rodrigo De Paul lifted a long cross all the way across the field to Silvetti, who timed it perfectly and fired it past Horvath for his second goal of the season.

Miami finished with more shots (16-5) and shots on target (7-2).
