Jack McGlynn scored on a long-range effort after halftime to break the deadlock and the Houston Dynamo pulled away to a 2-0 triumph at FC Dallas on Saturday night.

Griffin Dorsey also scored late as Houston (4-6-4, 16 points) earned its first away win and secured back-to-back league victories for the first time this season.

Jonathan Bond made three saves — including a backpedaling denial of Anderson Julio’s effort from beyond midfield late in the first half — to preserve his second consecutive clean sheet and Houston’s sixth overall.

Julio’s audacious attempt came in an otherwise uninspiring attacking performance for Dallas, which fell to its fourth home defeat.

The loss came after Dallas (4-5-4, 16 points) had won these sides’ previous meeting 2-1 on opening weekend in Houston, making it only the second time the away team has won consecutive Texas Derby matches.

The first time came when Dallas won consecutive games in Houston in April of 2014 and May of 2015.

McGlynn broke through in the 64th minute. After receiving Dorsey’s pass in a seemingly innocent position well beyond the 18-yard-box on the right, McGlynn took a couple touches forward. Then he unleashed a ferocious, swerving left-footed effort from about 25 yards out that sailed beyond the diving Michael Collodi and inside the far left post.

Dorsey effectively ended the match as a contest 17 minutes later with some excellent play down the right.

First he played a quick combination with McGlynn to get across the midfield stripe. Then he played another give-and-go into the penalty area, this time with substitute Toyosi Olusanya, to get into shooting position.

Dorsey then completed the move with a perfectly curled strike inside the far left post from about 12 yards out for his first goal of the campaign.

In the 38th minute, Julio thought he had a chance to score one of the best goals of the season when he got the ball inside the center circle and saw Bond off his line.

Julio launched a perfectly-aimed shot from just inside his own half toward the open goal. But Bond turned his torso and was able to side shuffle quickly enough to re-direct the excellent effort just over the crossbar.
