New York City FC midfielder Justin Haak signed a contract through the 2025 season with an option for 2026.
Financial terms were not disclosed by NYCFC on Wednesday for Haak, who was the club’s third-ever Homegrown player and first-ever signing from the five boroughs.
“I call New York home and for me to be able to represent this city is truly an honor,” Haak said. “It’s always been a goal of mine to continue my development here with the club that has given me everything. I want to thank (sporting director David Lee) and everyone for believing in me. I am proud to continue the rich heritage we are creating here.
“Seeing the success that previous Homegrowns have had here, I believe this is the best place to continue my development. There have been so many leaders in the locker room that have given me advice and have helped me grow. I will continue to work hard to achieve our goals and hope to have more success in the coming years.”
Haak, 21, played in 15 matches (seven starts) last season. He has yet to record a goal or an assist while competing in 18 career matches with NYCFC.
