The Colorado Rapids announced the signing of defender Michael Edwards to a two-year contract on Friday.
The deal includes a club option for 2025.
Edwards, 22, made 12 appearances for the MLS NEXT Pro side Rapids 2 in 2022 and scored one goal.
“Mike was a key contributor on our inaugural Rapids 2 roster last year and also played an important role in the Switchbacks’ deep playoff run during his loan there,” Rapids general manager Padraig Smith said. “We’re delighted to re-sign him and look forward to seeing his continued development with the club.”
Edwards joined the Rapids as a homegrown player ahead of the 2021 season. He registered two goals in 24 matches that season with the Colorado Springs Switchbacks of the USL Championship.
