San Diego FC acquired defender Ian Murphy from the Colorado Rapids on Saturday.
In exchange, the Rapids received a 2027 second-round draft pick and up to $100,000 in conditional general allocation money.
Colorado also will retain a portion of the salary charge for Murphy, who made 22 appearances across all competitions for the Rapids from 2025-26.
“We would like to thank Ian for his contributions to the Rapids during his time with the club,” Rapids president Padraig Smith said. “Ian has been a top professional and a valued member of our organization. We appreciate his commitment and wish him all the best as he begins this next chapter.”
Murphy was a first-round pick (14th overall) by FC Cincinnati in 2022. He had one goal and one assist in 80 MLS matches (56 starts) with FCC from 2022-24.
