St. Louis City SC signed midfielder Celio Pompeu to a new contract through the 2026 MLS season.
The deal announced Friday for the 24-year-old Brazilian includes a club option for 2027.
Pompeu is off to a strong start with three goals and one assist in nine matches (seven starts) in 2024.
“We are proud to see Celio’s growth through our pipeline,” sporting director Lutz Pfannenstiel said in a news release. “He has grown as a professional, both on and off the field, and to reap the rewards with a new contract was something he worked really hard for. Celio continues to elevate his game each and every day and we hope that he doesn’t stop raising the bar.”
Pompeu posted one goal and two assists in 26 matches (nine starts) during his MLS debut season with St. Louis in 2023.
