Tani Oluwaseyi scored twice and Robin Lod converted a penalty kick — all in an eight-minute span early in the second half — as Minnesota United handed the Seattle Sounders a rare home loss 3-2 on Sunday afternoon.

The Loons (8-3-6, 30 points) won for the first time in nine regular-season matches at Lumen Field despite Nicolas Romero’s own goal in the 83rd minute.

Kalani Kossa-Rienzi scored for Seattle (7-5-5, 26 points), which entered the game as the last MLS team undefeated at home this season (5-0-2).

Oluwaseyi opened the scoring in the 51st minute, taking a cross from Lod along the end line on the right wing and putting a left-footed shot from 10 yards out into the lower left corner of the net.

Two minutes later, Bongokuhle Hlongwane was knocked down in the 18-yard box by Sounders defender Jonathan Bell and Lod put the ensuing penalty kick into the right-side netting.

The Sounders answered off the following kickoff. Obed Vargas sent a long pass down the right wing for Pedro de la Vega, whose cross found Kossa-Rienzi for a 10-yard blast past Minnesota goalkeeper Dayne St. Clair.

The Loons restored their two-goal advantage in the 58th minute on a counterattack. Joaquin Pereyra drove the ball down the left wing, fighting off Seattle’s Cristian Roldan the entire way, before sending a cross to Oluwaseyi for a one-timer into the lower right corner.

The Sounders pulled within 3-2 as Georgi Minoungou’s cross from the right wing deflected off Romero’s foot and just inside the near post, leaving St. Clair no chance.

The Loons outshot Seattle 6-4 in a scoreless first half, putting the only two attempts on target.

In the 9th minute, Minnesota’s Oluwaseyi put a header off the crossbar after a left-wing cross from Julian Gressel.

Seattle goalkeeper Stefan Frei saved Gressel’s 20-yard attempt in the 44th minute and stopped an Oluwaseyi shot in first-half stoppage time.

The Sounders’ best opportunity of the half came on Danny Musovski’s header off an Albert Rusnak cross that went wide of the left post in the 22nd minute.
