The Philadelphia Union waived longtime defender Olivier Mbaizo on Wednesday.
The 28-year-old Cameroon native had been under contract through the 2026 MLS season.
Mbaizo tallied 13 assists in 122 regular-season matches with the Union from 2018-26. He had made only one appearance this season.
“We want to thank Olivier for his time spent with the club,” sporting director Jon Scheer said. “We are grateful for his dedication, professionalism, and impact on the organization and wish him all the best going forward.”
The Union return to action following the World Cup break on July 22, hosting the New York Red Bulls.
