Blake Hinson knocked down a go-ahead 3-pointer with 29.2 seconds left, lifting the Utah Jazz to a 119-116 victory over the Golden State on Monday in Salt Lake City.
Hinson made four 3-pointers and finished with 12 points to help Utah win for the second time in three games. Kyle Filipowski tallied 19 points, 15 rebounds, five assists and two steals for the Jazz. Brice Sensabaugh had a team-high 21 points.
De’Anthony Melton scored 22 points and collected seven rebounds to lead Golden State. Draymond Green finished with a game-high 10 assists.
Gui Santos added 15 points, eight rebounds and five assists for the Warriors, who lost for the fourth time in five games. Brandin Podziemski had 14 points, eight rebounds and four assists.
Late in the third quarter, Utah used a 12-1 run fueled by a pair of 3-pointers from Kevin Love to claim an 89-78 lead. Love also hit three free throws during the run, and as a team, the Jazz went 13-for-13 from the free-throw line during the period.
Golden State erased the double-digit deficit and tied it up twice in the final three minutes. Both times, Hinson made a 3-pointer to put the Jazz back in front.
After Hinson’s final go-ahead three, Elijah Harkless sank 1 of 2 foul shots for Utah before Melton hit a 3-pointer to draw the Warriors within one with 2.3 seconds left. Harkless, who finished with a career-high 16 points and six assists, made two free throws with 1.7 seconds to go.
Santos’ last-second 3-point attempt for the tie was no good.
Harkless scored or assisted on eight baskets over an eight-minute stretch to help Utah build a 45-38 lead midway through the second quarter. He beat the first-quarter buzzer with a floater and later knocked down a transition trey to cap an 11-2 run that gave the Jazz that seven-point lead.
Golden State erased the deficit and took a 55-53 lead in the final minute before halftime on Podziemski’s pull-up 3-pointer. Sensabaugh and Filipowski countered with back-to-back threes to put Utah up 59-55 going into the locker room.
