Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo (calf) exits game

Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo exited Tuesday night’s game against the visiting Boston Celtics in the third quarter due to a calf strain.

After inbounding the ball following a made basket, Antetokounmpo took a few steps before falling to the floor untouched. He grabbed at his lower left leg and was helped off the floor by medical staff, but TNT’s broadcast later showed him walking into the locker room under his own power.

Antetokounmpo never returned and was officially ruled out in the fourth quarter. Milwaukee diagnosed him with a left soleus strain. The soleus is a muscle that makes up the calf.

“That’s a good question. High,” Bucks coach Doc Rivers said when asked about his level of concern. “But he’s Giannis. I think everyone probably feels the same way as I do right now. So, we’re just gonna hope for the best.”

Prior to exiting, Antetokounmpo had 15 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and two blocks in 29 minutes of action. He made 7 of 11 shots from the field.

In 73 games (all starts) this season, the 29-year-old Antetokounmpo has averaged 30.4 points, 11.5 rebounds and 6.5 assists.

Milwaukee ended up beating Boston 104-91. The Bucks have three games left in the regular season, starting with a meeting with the visiting Orlando Magic on Wednesday.
