Coby White scored a team-high 35 points on 12-for-20 shooting from the field and seven three-pointers, helping the visiting Chicago Bulls to a 133-122 win over the Milwaukee Bucks on Friday.
Zach LaVine added 25 points, while Nikola Vucevic tallied 22 points and 10 boards, as Chicago picked up its first win of the season. Josh Giddey added 17 points and nine assists, Patrick Williams chipped in 13 and Jalen Smith scored 11 off the bench.
Giannis Antetokounmpo led Milwaukee with 38 points and added 11 rebounds. Damian Lillard poured in 28 points, Taurean Prince scored 11, Gary Trent Jr. finished with 10 points and Bobby Portis tallied nine points and a team-high 12 rebounds off the bench.
Trailing by a point at halftime, Chicago opened the second half on a 16-8 run, capped by Vucevic’s three-pointer with 7:34 left in the third, prompting a Milwaukee timeout.
Antetokounmpo’s three-point play cut the Bucks’ deficit to 81-79 with 6:34 left in the third, but Chicago answered again and took a 102-95 lead entering the fourth.
AJ Green began the final quarter with back-to-back triples that trimmed Chicago’s lead to one. The Bulls responded with a 13-1 run that pushed the Chicago advantage to 115-102 with 8:23 remaining.
Trailing 128-113, Milwaukee strung together seven straight points to cut the deficit to eight, but that’s the closest the Bucks would get.
In the first quarter, Pat Connaughton’s triple gave the Bucks a 32-24 lead. Dalen Terry’s free throw and five consecutive points from White cut Chicago’s deficit to 32-30 after the opening quarter.
Trailing 41-39, Chicago took the lead on Smith’s three-pointer with 9:03 left in the first half, but Milwaukee answered with an 8-0 run.
Antetokounmpo led the Bucks with 17 points in the first half, while White and Lavine paced Chicago with 17 apiece.
