The Grizzlies had trouble finding an offensive rhythm and fell behind by 10 early in the second quarter. They settled in, and Santi Aldama’s 3-pointer tied the game with 4:20 left in the period. Bolstered by a late 9-0 run, Toronto led 59-53 at halftime.
After falling behind by eight to open the third quarter, the Grizzlies picked up the pace and moved to within one on Edey’s layup off a rebound with 10:07 remaining. The visitors reeled off four straight points after that, taking advantage of two Toronto misses.
Toronto regained the lead at 67-66 after Barnes’ steal set up Dick for a turnaround dunk. The Grizzlies picked up their defense to produce a 12-2 spurt and a nine-point lead with 5:53 remaining in the third. Pippen nailed a corner 3-pointer with 1:17 left, and Memphis led 96-84 after three quarters.
Jackson sank a trey with 9:52 left in the fourth quarter and Memphis led the tiring Raptors by 18. The margin reached 22 after Pippen drained a pair of 3-pointers with less than eight minutes to go.
Toronto’s RJ Barrett (concussion protocol), Jakob Poeltl (hip pointer) and Immanuel Quickley (injury management) did not play.
Desmond Bane (ankle) was out for Memphis.
The teams wore throwback 1990s uniforms. Boths entered the league 30 years ago, with the Grizzlies located in Vancouver.
