Sacramento Kings center Domantas Sabonis will be out indefinitely while nursing a Grade 1 left hamstring strain, the team announced.
According to the Kings, an update on Sabonis’ condition will be provided in one week.
Sabonis was running down the court and immediately clutched at his left hamstring approximately one minute into Saturday’s 113-103 win at the Houston Rockets.
The NBA’s leading rebounder, Sabonis is averaging 14.1 boards to go with 19.5 points and 6.2 assists in 56 games (all starts) this season.
Sabonis, 28, is a three-time All-Star. He is averaging 16.1 points, 10.6 rebounds and 4.9 assists in 632 career games (492 starts) with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Indiana Pacers and Kings.
“We’re talking about Domantas Sabonis, who covers the stat sheet in a way that is difficult to do,” Sacramento coach Doug Christie said. “A lot of guys stepped in (against Houston) and were just trying to do what they do, and that adds up to everyone pulling the rope in the same direction.”
Per ESPN, the Kings are signing center Skal Labissiere to a 10-day contract.
Labissiere, 28, has averaged 15.8 points and 7.5 rebounds for Stockton of the NBA G League.
