The stunning trade overnight between the Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Lakers has shortened the latter’s odds of winning the NBA title in June.
BetMGM dropped Los Angeles from +4000 to +1400 after the trade that sent Luka Doncic from the Mavericks to Lakers, which Dallas officially announced Sunday morning. Anthony Davis was the other headliner in the six-player, three-team deal, with the veteran going from Los Angeles to Dallas.
The Mavericks went from +2000 to +3000 to hoist the Larry O’Brien Championship Trophy.
At DraftKings, the Lakers were +1700 and the Mavericks +3500 on Sunday morning.
Back at BetMGM, the Lakers moved from +2000 to +900 to win the Western Conference, with the Mavericks going from +1200 to +1400.
Since news of the trade broke early Sunday, 64 percent of bets and 57 percent of money was put on the Lakers, BetMGM reported.
The Boston Celtics and Oklahoma City Thunder remain strong favorites to win the NBA title. At BetMGM, both teams are +225, while both are +240 at DraftKings.
