NBA roundup: Luka Doncic, Klay Thompson lead Mavs’ charge past Warriors

Luka Doncic scored a game-high 45 points as part of a triple-double, Klay Thompson turned back the clock with seven 3-pointers and the Dallas Mavericks avenged an NBA Cup loss to the Golden State Warriors with a 143-133 victory on Sunday night in San Francisco.

Thompson finished with a season-best 29 points and Kyrie Irving tossed in 21 to complement eight assists for the Mavericks, who won for the eighth time in their past nine games.

Andrew Wiggins went for a team-high 29 points, Stephen Curry posted 26, Draymond Green added 21 and Jonathan Kuminga had 20 for the Warriors, who beat the Mavericks 120-117 on Nov. 12 but have won just five times in 14 games since.

Pacers 119, Pelicans 104

Pascal Siakam scored a game-high 22 points, helping lead Indiana to a win over visiting New Orleans in Indianapolis.

Tyrese Haliburton had 21 points and 10 assists, while Andrew Nembhard added 17 points for Indiana, which has won three of its last four. Obi Toppin scored 16 off the bench and Myles Turner chipped in 14 in the win.

Brandon Boston Jr. led the Pelicans with 20 points off the bench, followed by 19 apiece from Herb Jones and Dejounte Murray. Trey Murphy III scored 16 and CJ McCollum had 15 as New Orleans lost its fourth in a row and 13th in 14 games. Yves Missi had nine points and a game-high 14 boards.

Celtics 112, Wizards 98

Jayson Tatum collected 28 points and 12 rebounds to help Boston earn a road victory over Washington.

Payton Pritchard came off the bench and had 15 points, 11 rebounds and six assists. Boston also received seven points, 11 rebounds and four assists in 27 minutes from Luke Kornet. It was a rough shooting night for Jaylen Brown, who was 4-of-14 from the field and 1-of-4 from the free throw line. He scored 11 points. Kristaps Porzingis scored 11 points before he left the game in the second quarter with a foot injury.

Jordan Poole led the Wizards with 21 points. Coulibaly finished with 19 points and Justin Champagnie added 13 points and a game-high 14 rebounds. Carlton Carrington put up 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Knicks 100, Magic 91

Karl-Anthony Towns recorded his first 20-point, 20-rebound game in over five years, when he lifted visiting New York to a win over Orlando.

Towns had 22 points and 22 rebounds for his 13th career 20-20 game and his first since March 23, 2019. Jalen Brunson scored 31 points for the Knicks, who have alternated wins and losses over their past five games. Mikal Bridges added 17 points while Josh Hart finished with 12 for New York.

Moritz Wagner scored a career-high 32 points off the bench for the Magic, who lost at home for the first time in 11 games this season. Tristan da Silva (20 points) was the only other Magic player to score in double figures.

Timberwolves 106, Spurs 92

Anthony Edwards scored 26 points in 28 minutes of court time to help lift visiting Minnesota to a win over San Antonio in a Western Conference game created by the results of the NBA Cup.

Nickeil Alexander-Walker added 17 points in a reserve role for Minnesota while Jaden McDaniels racked up 12 points and 11 rebounds, Julius Randle had 11 points and Rudy Gobert scored 10.

Victor Wembanyama had 20 points and 12 rebounds to lead San Antonio, which had a two-game winning streak snapped. Jeremy Sochan added 17 points and 15 rebounds, Harrison Barnes also scored 17 points and Julian Champagnie hit for 11.

Lakers 116, Grizzlies 110

Anthony Davis shrugged off an injury scare to match season bests of 40 points and 16 rebounds as Los Angeles defeated visiting Memphis.

Austin Reaves had 19 points and eight assists while LeBron James, back after missing two games due to a foot injury, chalked up 18 points, eight boards and eight assists for Los Angeles.

Jaren Jackson Jr. scored 25 points before fouling out for the Grizzlies, whose four-game winning streak came to an end. Ja Morant had 20 points, seven rebounds and six assists, offset by a 6-for-21 clip from the floor and seven turnovers.

Suns 116, Trail Blazers 109

Devin Booker had a game-high 28 points and Phoenix rode a big fourth quarter to take down visiting Portland.

Despite shooting 1-for-9 from 3-point range, Kevin Durant added 20 points for the Suns, who were without Bradley Beal for a second straight game because of a swollen knee.

Portland has now lost six games in a row. All five Trail Blazers starters scored in double figures, led by Anfernee Simons (20 points) and Jerami Grant (17). Reserve Deni Avdija also had 17 points.
