Hawks ink Bogdan Bogdanovic to 4-year extension

The Atlanta Hawks signed guard Bogdan Bogdanovic to a four-year contract extension worth $68 million, multiple outlets reported Thursday.

The Hawks later announced that Bogdanovic signed a multi-year extension. The team didn’t specify details.

The deal kicks in next season after Bogdanovic declined his $18 million player option for 2023-24, per the report. The new contract runs through the 2026-27 season.

Bogdanovic, 30, is averaging 14.1 points per game and shooting 40.1 percent from the 3-point line in 43 games (five starts) this season.

“Bogi brings so many of the qualities we are looking for in a Hawks player,” general manager Landry Fields said in a new release. “In addition to his elite shooting ability, he has the versatility to thrive as a starter or sixth man, and a competitiveness that is invaluable to our team and culture. We are excited that he will remain a key part of our team going forward.”

Bogdanovic is in his third season with the Hawks and sixth in the NBA after playing in Turkey for five years.

He averages 14.2 points, 3.4 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game in 359 career NBA games (157 starts) for the Sacramento Kings (2017-29) and Hawks.
