Charlotte Hornets point guard LaMelo Ball is expected to return Friday night against the San Antonio Spurs, ESPN reported.
Ball has been out since Nov. 26 with a right ankle sprain but participated in shootaround on Friday morning in San Antonio. The Hornets (8-27) are just 3-17 since his injury.
Ball, 22, is averaging a career-high 24.7 points a game along with 5.5 rebounds and 8.2 assists in 15 games (all starts) this season.
In four seasons with the Hornets, the No. 3 overall pick in the 2020 draft has averaged 19.9 points, 7.4 assists and 6.3 rebounds in 177 games (157 starts).
He appeared in just 36 games last season because of a broken right ankle. He was limited to 51 games as a rookie due to injuries.
