Free-agent guard Bruce Brown has seemingly cashed in on his stellar postseason, as he reportedly agreed to a two-year, $45 million deal with the Indiana Pacers on Friday.
Within the first hour of the official start of free agency at 6 p.m. ET Friday, ESPN was informed by Brown’s agents of the agreement less than two weeks after Brown declined his $6.8 million option with the NBA champion Denver Nuggets for next season.
Instead, once free-agent agreements becoming official on July 6, Brown will join a Pacers team that finished 35-47 last season and missed the playoffs as the 11th seed in the Eastern Conference — the third straight year without reaching the postseason.
Brown, who turns 27 in August, comes off his eye-popping playoff run with Denver when he averaged 12.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.1 steals in 26.5 minutes off the bench in 20 playoff games as the Nuggets secured the franchise’s first title.
The five-year veteran averaged 11.5 points (his first career season scoring in double figures), 4.1 rebounds and 3.4 assists in 80 games (31 starts) during the regular season, his first with Denver.
Originally a second-round pick by the Detroit Pistons in 2018, Brown has career averages of 8.5 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 349 games (212 starts) with the Pistons (2018-20), Brooklyn Nets (2020-22) and Nuggets.
